The Theatres Trust continues as an independent body

24th Sep 2010

As announced on the 26 July by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the intention is to declassify The Theatres Trust as a ‘Non Departmental Public Body’. The Theatres Trust’s role in promoting the protection of theatre buildings will continue and The Theatres Trust Act and The Theatres Trust (Scotland) Act will remain. The Theatres Trust will become an independent statutory advisory body. Although its trustees are appointed by the Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, The Theatres Trust receives no direct funding from the DCMS. As an independent body it will take responsibility for the appointment of its own trustees providing administrative efficiency savings for the DCMS.
